FBI Urges Private and Public Sector to Ditch Kaspersky

Kaspersky Lab

Recent news has relayed that the FBI wants private and public entities to stop using Kaspersky software, due to the potential for Russian intelligence influence.

The news came after an FBI probe into Kaspersky in June, 2017. As reported by Reuters,  a U.S. senator claimed that “ties between Kaspersky Lab and the Kremlin are very alarming”.

In a previous article, by Reuters, accusations of faking malware to harm rivals and ex-employees have emerged around Kaspersky. The accusations stated that Kaspersky had attempted to damage rivals by “tricking their antivirus software programs into classifying benign files as malicious”.

While an official statement from the FBI has not been released, if you are using Kaspersky and would like to discuss other antivirus options, please contact iV4.

Amidst international political uncertainty, cyber-security should always remain ethical, legal, and follow industry best-practices.
